Stanley Cup Playoffs 2011: Finals Prediction
Vancouver Canucks vs. Boston Bruins: Boston in 7
For the record, my predictions for the last round sucked. Didn't get either one of them right.

Never Forgotten
Editorial by Phil Luciano
To the precious few surviving doughboys who beat the Kaiser long ago …
To dedicated troops who fought and won the war to end all wars, then re-enlisted for the next one …
To 160,000 Allied troops who stormed the beaches of Normandy, 60 years ago next Sunday …
To young battlefield soldiers rushed into leadership ranks because all of their leaders were killed …
To anguished moms who had to change their blue stars to gold …
To Rosie the Riveter …
To 4-Fs who ran metal drives and air-raid drills and kept the home front humming …
To scientists and doctors who developed penicillin and other medical breakthroughs that help blunt the hell of war …
To military chaplains who foster hope in hopeless situations …
To the inhabitants of the Tomb of the Unknowns …
To veterans of peacetime who stood vigilant and ready …

Really, People Magazine?
142 people are dead and more than 100 are still missing after the devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri, yet they're relegated to the bottom corner on the cover of this weeks' issue so Kim Kardashian can flaunt her brand new 20.5 carat diamond engagement ring?
Tornado survivors have lost their loved ones and their homes, but hey, who cares about their misery? KIM'S ENGAGED! *sarcasm* That's all that matters. */sarcasm*
Poorly played, People. You couldn't push that engagement story back one week to put the spotlight on the "regular" people who really need our help?

P.S. The dessert table and the dude playing the Casio is a nice touch.
Words Of Wisdom
A special thank you goes out to my cousin Heidi, who posted this on Facebook the other day. Her sweet 9 year old daughter struggles with a reading comprehension/retention disability and constantly beats herself up over the fact that she can't keep up academically with her peers (even though she tests at a high school level in complex problem solving skills and puzzles).

Real Housewives Of New Jersey: Season 3
It's too early to tell how much crazy the two new wives, Kathy Wakile and Melissa Gorga, will bring to the table, but I have a feeling that Melissa's husband Joe (who also happens to be Teresa Giudice's brother) is well on his way to replace Danielle as the Drama Queen (err, King).
Poor Jacqueline and Caroline. I hope they're not tossed aside and ignored because they're somewhat normal.

Gary Bettman Needs To Take A Chill Pill
NHL Forces Vancouver 'Green Men' To Stop Touching Glass, Doing Handstands In Effort To Remove All Fun From Games
Are you kidding me?!? I'm not a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, but I freaking love the 'green guys'. For you non-hockey people out there, the 'green guys' are two Canucks fans dressed head-to-toe in green spandex who sit next to the penalty box and torment penalized players from the opposing team.
I don't understand what the big deal is. It's not like they're physically harming the players or the fans around them. It's just good, clean fun. Way to be a killjoy, Bettman.
Click the link above to watch some of the 'green guys' finest moments.

Monday Movie Meme
Flight is something humans have been fascinated with for a long time. The movies are filled with flying dreams and realities. Share on your blog films focused on flight, things that fly or become airborne.
My favorite flight themed movie? Airport '77. Art thieves hijack a 747, hit fog and crash into the ocean, trapping them and the passengers under 100 feet of water. Can they make it out in time?
I watched this movie religiously whenever it was on Cinevue (our late 70's predecessor to HBO) The special effects during the crash and rescue sequences are top notch (for that time, any way), and the acting is superb. How can you go wrong with Jack Lemmon, Olivia deHavilland , James Stewart, Christopher Lee, George Kennedy, Lee Grant, and Darren McGavin all in the same movie? To this day, I'm still traumatized by the scene where Christopher Lee dies during a rescue attempt and then floats, open-eyed, past the passengers watching out of the windows.

Osama bin Laden killed in US raid on Pakistan hideout
Thank you to President Obama and the brave men and women of the U.S. military for ridding the world of this evil man. May all the soldiers who lost their lives protecting our country and its rights during this nine and a half year long conflict never be forgotten. May all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks finally rest in peace, and may their families be granted a sense of closure and justice.
God bless America. God bless our military.
P.S. Speaking of President Obama, how funny is this video? Love his sense of humor.
